The short version
WeTransfer does one job well: get a large file from you to someone else, once, with no account needed on their end. If that's your whole problem, it's a fine tool and you may not need us.
MoveMyWork is shaped differently. It's a clipboard and file relay between your own devices first — copy on one machine, paste on another — with share links for the moments you need to hand something to somebody else. The overlap is the share link. The difference is everything around it: history, revoke, and the fact that you'll use it forty times a day rather than twice a month.
Where WeTransfer is strong
At the time of writing, WeTransfer's free tier gives you 3 GB of sends per month, spread across up to ten transfers. Links expire after about three days, and password protection and custom expiry are paid features. None of that is a scandal — for occasional big deliveries, three days is usually enough, and clients recognise a WeTransfer link when they see one. Familiarity counts.
What MoveMyWork does differently
The free plan gives you 3 GB of storage, files up to 250 MB each, kept for 30 days. Share links are made in two clicks from any clip or file, and the controls WeTransfer charges for — passphrase, your own expiry time, view limits, revoke — are all on the free plan. When WeTransfer is the better choice
Genuinely, sometimes it is:
- A huge one-off delivery. A 2 GB video for a client is over our free per-file limit but comfortably inside WeTransfer's free monthly allowance. That's their home turf.
- Client familiarity. Some clients have downloaded a hundred WeTransfer links. If a familiar link reduces friction on their end, use the familiar link.
- You send rarely. Twice a month, big files, no need for history or revoke — WeTransfer is fine as it is.

Is MoveMyWork a free WeTransfer alternative?
For everyday transfers, yes. The free plan includes share links with a passphrase, expiry, view limits and revoke, plus clipboard sync between your own devices. For very large one-off deliveries, WeTransfer's free tier is still the simpler fit.
Do recipients need a MoveMyWork account?
No. A share link opens in any browser and the recipient just downloads. If you set a passphrase, they enter it first — that's all.
Can I stop a link after I've sent it?
Yes. Every MoveMyWork share link can be revoked at any time, and you can set an expiry time or a view limit when you create it. All of that is on the free plan.
Does WeTransfer keep a history of what I've sent?
Not on its free plan, at the time of writing. MoveMyWork keeps a history of everything you've copied or uploaded, so you can find a file again and re-share it later (free-plan files are kept for a limited period).
