First, the honest bit
Check your company's policy before you use MoveMyWork — or any personal cloud tool — on a work machine. Laptops get locked down for good reasons: client data, compliance rules, malware. Those restrictions aren't your IT department being difficult; they're often the thing standing between your employer and a very bad week.
And if IT blocks movemywork.com, respect that. Don't look for a way around it — ask them what the approved route is instead. There usually is one, and asking is a better look than being found out. This page is for the many people whose laptops simply don't allow installs, not for getting around rules that exist on purpose.
A browser tab is often all you have
With that said: plenty of locked-down machines allow ordinary web browsing, and MoveMyWork is a web app. There's nothing to install, no admin prompt, no extension. You sign in at movemywork.com in the browser that's already there, and your clipboard history and files are in front of you. Sign out when you're done.
What that looks like in practice
The legitimate cases come up constantly. The slide deck you built at home that you're presenting from the work machine. Notes you drafted on your phone for a meeting that starts in four minutes. A photo you need in a document, currently trapped on your phone. In each case it's the same move: open the web app on the device that has the thing, add it, open the web app on the device that needs it. Done.
It works the other direction too, within reason and policy — a file that's genuinely yours to take, sent to yourself as a share link that needs no account on the receiving end.
What it can't do — and shouldn't
Be clear-eyed about the limits. Without the Windows tray app (which you can't install here, by definition), there's no automatic clipboard sync — you're copying and pasting into a tab by hand. That's fine; it's still one tab instead of emailing yourself.
And MoveMyWork is not a way around data-loss-prevention rules. If a file is confidential, licensed, or covered by a policy that says it stays put — it stays put. The tool moves your work between your devices; it doesn't change what's yours.
